Monday 8th January

We’ll meet at the airport at 8.40am for our group flight to Zanzibar, an island off Tanzania’s East Coast. We arrive in the early hours and transfer to our hotel for some well earned rest and recuperation.

Overnight in Stone Town.

Tuesday 9th January

Spend the morning relaxing. We will then enjoy an afternoon tour of Stone Town’s ancient winding streets. The atmospheric labyrinths are lined by traditional villas, shops and the birthplace of Freddie Mercury. Stone Town is the historic part of the old Zanzibar City, the former capital of the sultanate and central focus of the island when it was a British Protectorate. It acted as a bustling hub of the former spice and slave trade.

Breakfast included. Overnight in Stone Town.

Wednesday 10th January

Discover the delicious tastes of Zanzibar with samplings of local fruits, coffee, sweet confection called halwa and rojo, a soup mixed with kachori, potatoes and cassava. Wash this all down with sugar cane juice or madafu to conclude your exotic tasting tour. We will have more time to explore Stone Town after our tour.

Thursday 11th January

Depart Stone Town and fill the senses on exotic spice plantations. Sample seasonal teas, spices and fruits at their freshest. Following the tour, transfer across the island to the East Coast and check into your beach-front hotel in the stunning Chwaka Bay.

Friday 12th January

Relax amid the warm tropical surroundings of Chwaka Bay in all-inclusive luxury whether by the pool or on the pristine sands of the palm-fringed beach.

Saturday 13th January

Explore Jozani Forest in the south of Zanzibar. Accompanied by a park ranger, walk through fragrant eucalyptus and ancient mahogany trees alongside troops of Red Colobus Monkeys and other wildlife.

Sunday 14th January

Wallow in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean that surround this paradise island.

Monday 15th January

Option to join a tour to uninhabited islands often frequented by dolphins and whales. Sail to Fumba for snorkeling opportunities before enjoying lunch on Kwale Island before visiting a mangrove lagoon

Tuesday 16th January

Optional excursion to Changuu Island, where you’ll find the endangered Aldabra Tortoise who can live for over 180 years. Next, explore a crumbling prison that now appears like a tropical folly before having the chance to relax on white sands, sample fresh tropical fruit and snorkel in the sea.

Wednesday 17th January

Enjoy your day in paradise as you like, on pristine sands, clear blue waters or by the tranquil pool.
