This comfortably-paced walking holiday takes in a variety of tracks amid wonderful scenery, designed to finish near a welcoming café or bar at the end of each route. Discover the contrasts between volcanic terrain and lush scenery as you explore the real Tenerife along ancient trails, peppered by traditional farmsteads, prehistoric cave settlements and rustic Canarian culture.

We will discover Tenerife’s varied natural beauty caused by its turbulent volcanic past. We will pass through valleys, mountain ranges and national parks. Our welcoming hotel is based in La Paz. An upmarket area that is perfect for getting out and about around the island, but also to explore Puerto De la Cruz. La Paz looks over the city which boasts a beachfront location, with charming parks and piazzas dotted with traditional cafes.

Friday 5th January

We’ll meet at the airport at 11.20am for our group flight. Arrive in Tenerife and transfer to your hotel in Puerto de la Cruz.

Dinner included. Overnight in Puerto de la Cruz.

Saturday 6th January

Embark on a walk of the Upper Orotava Valley with a gentle introduction to the Canarian pine forest at 3,800ft. Along the walk you’ll pass a galleria and fine views down the coast, before descending to La Caldera. This walk will be approximately 4 hours long.

Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Puerto de la Cruz.

Sunday 7th January

Enjoy a walk around the Anaga Mountains, beginning with caves used by the Guanches, Tenerife’s indigenous inhabitants. You’ll ascend a path through the Silva-Lauirel Forest to the ridge of Chinemada, here as we pass through the clouds we will truly feel that we are walking amongst the gods. This walk will be approximately 4 hours long.

Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Puerto de la Cruz.

Monday 8th January

Today will be a free day to relax at leisure around Puerto de la Cruz where you can relax by the pool or venture into the town. Perhaps you’ll take a stroll along Puerto’s boardwalk or relax on its sandy beaches. The town is home to many open spaces, green parks and piazzas filled with Canarian culinary treats to sample around each corner.

Tuesday 9th January

A walk around the Teno Mountains, beginning at 3,000ft on a trail next to ponds and birdlife before a steady climb up to the saddle of Gala Grande. After continuing along a ridge with dramatic views you’ll descend to the idyllic village of Masca. This walk will be approximately 4.5 hours long.

Wednesday 10th January

Venture to Teide National Park on a route above Silva Laurel Forest to a large plateau. At 7,000ft elevation, discover an unusual micro climate offering 310 days of sunshine every year.

This walk will be in the shadow of Mount Teide, the highest point in all of Spain and the world’s third largest volcano when measured from its base that lies deep in the Atlantic Ocean. This walk will be approximately 3.5 hours long.

Thursday 11th January

Return to the Teno Mountains for a walk between El Baracan to Teno Alta. Begin with a steady climb along Teno Alta, walking past volcanic dykes and a traditional goat farm offering local cheese and honey. Next, walk along a splendid ridge above the valley of El Palmar. This walk will be approximately 4.5 hours long.

Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Puerto de la Cruz.

Friday 12th January

Transfer to the airport for your return journey home.
