Welcome to Indonesia
Embrace your inner explorer and venture off the beaten track to Flores, an island of mesmerizing untapped beauty. Immersed within ancient Indonesian culture, our voyage of discovery will encounter tribal villages, famed for their traditions of Ikat weaving, Caci dancing and blend of Catholicism and Animism. Whilst the people of Flores are accommodating but shy – the island’s natural beauty is anything but. Tropical rain forests and lush rice fields are eclipsed by the unashamedly spectacular Kelimutu volcanic crater, with its unique tri-coloured mineral lakes.
The islands’ wildlife is equally as magnificent. Our intrepid adventure across Flores culminates on Komodo Island, the inspiration behind the fabled tale of King Kong. It is the only place on the planet where you can find the most mysterious and majestic beast of them all, the near mythical Komodo dragon.
Indonesia is a collection of islands with such diversity that we couldn’t resist treating you to some well-earned rest and relaxation either side of your Flores foray on the enticing beaches of Bali. This spiritual island paradise is the perfect accompaniment to our exotic Indonesian odyssey.
Flores is blooming as a travel destination so the time to discover this emerging island is now before tourism really begins to boom.

The extinct Kelimutu is home to three different coloured volcanic lakes, thanks to the different levels of minerals. The tri-coloured lakes are spellbinding and completely unique, depending on rainfall, the lakes vary from turquoise to olive green and chocolate shades. Framed by dramatic volcanic walls, this striking natural feature is also believed to be where the souls of the dead migrate, with the most wicked migrating to the black lake!
On our return to the hotel we’ll enjoy a visit to Woloara village. After exploring the marvels of the natural world in the morning we now delve into Flores’ rich and unique culture. Our adventure across Flores continues today as we journey to Labuan Bajo, located on the western tip of the island. Our morning of true adventure commences by boat as we sail to Komodo Island in the footsteps of great explorers of old. In 1926, W. Douglas Burden made the voyage to Komodo in search of the giant Varanus lizard – an escapade that inspired the 1933 film King Kong. Upon arrival we’ll disembark our boat and begin our trek to the lair of this ancient and near mythical creature. Measuring up to 3 metres and weighing up to 150kg, they are one of the most fascinating and prehistoric beasts on the planet. The islands themselves are untamed areas of wild natural beauty surrounded by a brilliantly blue seascape. After your trek, we will provide time for you to relax on the near deserted beaches with their delightful coral gardens. A visit to Kelor and Bidadari Island will also be possible for the ultimate island hopping and exploration extravaganza.
