Welcome to Cuba

The island paradise of Cuba, set amid the Caribbean, has over 300 natural beaches where fine white sand meets crystal-clear waters. Our tour begins in the charming capital of Havana, where we relax to rhumba rhythms and sip cocktails while stylish 1950s American cars cruise past. We also visit Trinidad City, nestled between sea and mountains, and Santa Clara with its links to historic cult figure, Che Guevara. There is opportunity to taste the world-famous rum and see how the finest cigars are made on this sun-drenched Cuban adventure.

Below is the itinerary for the holiday. Please click each day for more information.

Monday 19th March

We’ll meet at the airport at 9.30am for our group flight to Havana, the lively capital of Cuba.

Overnight in Havana.

Tuesday 20th March

Today begins with a sightseeing tour around the historic old quarter of this wonderful city. San Cristobal de la Habana, founded in 1519, is a multi-layered treasure trove of historic significance. We wander through San Francisco de Asis Square, the Old Square, and the Arms Square, winding our way to Cathedral Square and to the Palace of Cuban Arts and Crafts, where many artefacts of Cuba’s cultural history begin to unravel their fascinating stories of human existence and historic strife. As part of the tour we will enjoy a traditional Cuban lunch.

Breakfast and lunch Included. Overnight in Havana

Wednesday 21st March

Today you may wish to join us on a visit to a local blind school for a cultural exchange. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure in Havana. One highly recommended option is taking a stroll to the end of Calle Obispo to Floriditas bar. Perch in the same spot along the bar as Ernest Hemingway once did, enjoying one of their refreshing and delicious daiquiris.

Breakfast included. Overnight in Havana.

Thursday 22nd March

A free day to relax, wander and develop your own must-see list as you immerse yourself in the exotic sights, sounds and rhythms of Havana.

Breakfast included. Overnight in Havana.

Friday 23rd March

We stop off en-route at Guama and have the option to visit a crocodile reserve. Here, crocodiles are bred for release into the wild, and it’s possible to ‘meet’ these most pre-historic-featured predators in person. This includes an opportunity to touch their unique skin, and still survive with all limbs intact! After lunch in Guama, we continue to the quaint city of Cienfuegos for an afternoon tour. This includes a varied programme of visits to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, the Bulevar (Boulevard) of Cienfuegos, the Terry Theatre (founded in 1890 and now a National Monument) and the Bay of Cienfuegos. From Cienfuegos we continue our journey to Trinidad City.

Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Trinidad.

Saturday 24th March

Today we take a tour of the charming city of Trinidad, and have an opportunity to admire the beautiful colonial architecture that has remained unchanged for centuries. We’ll also visit a local museum and enjoy a welcome drink in the La Canchanchara bar. This house of hospitality is named after the famous concoction made from raw rum, water and honey. After we’ve quenched our thirst, we can enjoy a lovely local lunch in a traditional Cuban restaurant.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Trinidad.

Sunday 25th March

Today is free for you to relax and explore and enjoy the many facilities in our all-inclusive resort. Alternatively wander the city’s historic centre or head out to a historic plantation in the nearby countryside where sugar cane has been grown for centuries.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Trinidad.

Monday 26th March

Today’s tour of Santa Clara provides the opportunity to visit the Museum of Che Guevara. It was to him and his militia that the former Cuban dictator Batista famously surrendered at the very climax of the Cuban Revolution. Here is displayed the very same armoured train which Guevara’s troops derailed during that pivotal moment of history. The train wreckage was subsequently preserved and declared a national monument. After pausing to re-live this colourful episode, we continue our journey to Varadero, not before enjoying lunch in a local restaurant.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Varadero.

Tuesday 27th March

Varadero has one of the finest beaches in the entire Caribbean. It offers 12.5 miles of perfect, white sand, which sweeps down to meet warm, lapping, turquoise sea water. Here you can try your hand at a variety of different water sports or the option to swim with dolphins. Or you can simply relax and enjoy the Caribbean sun.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Varadero.

Wednesday 28th March

Today offers some free time to relax and to explore Varadero at leisure, and a chance to discover the true meaning of the expression ‘beach culture’. This evening, join us for a farewell get-together as we enjoy live Cuban music and re-live the highlights of our fantastic Caribbean adventure.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Varadero.

Thursday 29th March

Transfer to Havana airport for our international departure.

Breakfast included. Overnight on flight.

Friday 30th March

Arrive home.
