Tuesday 2nd May

Our first port of call in Norway is Bergen. Despite Being Norway’s second largest city, Bergen retains a small-town charm with heaps of culture. Surrounded by the sea and sheltered by mountains, the city is gorgeously scenic. We’ll disembark the ship and meet a local guide for a walking tour around Bergen’s historic cobbled streets, exploring highlights like historic Bryggen and Bergen Fortress, the fish market and Town Square, hearing about local culture and the history of the Vikings and Hanseatic League.

Following our walking tour, we shall enjoy some free time to further explore Bergen at our leisure. You may wish to sample local delicacies such as brown cheese, cloudberry jam and skillingsbolle – a bread dough bun with cinnamon and sugar swirled through. Alternatively, you may wish to discover one of the local museums or check out the booming café culture.

All meals included. Overnight on board the ship at sea.

Wednesday 3rd May

This morning we shall visit the charming village of Olden. Set amongst lush green meadows, brooks and a sprinkling of pretty dwellings, Olden will be our gateway to Briksdal Glacier.

We’ll embark on our tour of the glacier by bus and journey past ‘the little red church’ through the valley until we reach the end of the fertile fjord. We shall then walk from Rustoen to Briksdal Glacier, which is an arm of Europe’s largest glacier, the Jostedal Glacier. Passing by beautiful waterfalls and mountains, we’ll discover great vistas and panoramic views until we reach the glacier itself.

This evening, we shall depart Olden and cruise through Nordfjord and Hornelen, a highlight being the highest sea cliff in Europe.

All meals included. Overnight on board the ship at sea.

Thursday 4th May

Today we’ll dock in the tiny village of Flam on the banks of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of beautiful Sognefjord which is the longest and deepest fjord. Our tour today includes a scenic journey on the Flam Railway. Completed in 1944, the railway climbs over 1000 metres along 20km through deep ravines, roaring waterfalls and lush scenery making this possibly the most picturesque rail journey in the world.
